HeadsUpNotes is a static editorial website. This policy describes the current starter site; it will be updated when services or data practices change.

Reading the site

You do not need an account to read articles. The site code does not set advertising cookies or load analytics trackers. A hosting provider may process standard request information, such as IP addresses, requested pages, browser information, and timestamps, to deliver and secure the site. The final hosting provider and its practices will be identified before public launch.

Your display preference

The light or dark appearance you choose is saved in your browser's local storage so it can be remembered on later visits. This preference is not sent to a server by the site. You can remove it by clearing this site's browser storage.

Newsletter

The newsletter form is currently a placeholder. No mailing-list provider is connected and subscriptions are not being collected. Before signups open, this page will explain the provider, how your email address is used, how long it is kept, and how to unsubscribe.

Email contact

If you email the editor once the contact address is active, your message, email address, and any information you choose to include will be used to respond and handle the request. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information. The current contact address is a placeholder and should be replaced before launch.

Videos and external websites

YouTube videos use a click-to-load player. The site does not contact YouTube for an embedded video until you choose to load it. Loading a video connects your browser to YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed service; YouTube may then process information about your device and playback. Privacy-enhanced mode does not mean that no data is processed.

Choosing “Watch the video” opens YouTube directly. Links to X, merchants, affiliate networks, or other websites take you to services governed by their own privacy policies. Read Google's privacy policy for YouTube's practices.

Affiliate links

Following an affiliate link may allow a merchant or network, including Impact, to use cookies or other identifiers to attribute a purchase. This tracking occurs through the linked service, rather than an affiliate tracking script installed on this site. Read the affiliate disclosure before using these links.

Choices and requests

You can read without loading videos or following external links, clear local storage, and use your browser's privacy controls. Once the contact address is active, you can request information about personal data you have sent to the editor, or request correction or deletion where applicable. Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply.
